Bluegrass PMI member Kishore Acharya invites you to visit Berea College and the CMIT!
The Computer Science, Digital Media and Information Technologies Building (Tech 1) is the first of two planned buildings focused on Technology supporting a culture of collaboration critical to innovation. Designed to meet U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Silver level Certification for sustainable design and construction, the building features transparent classrooms where students can see technology learning on display.
Construction began in May 2022 for the new 48,761 square foot facility and is scheduled to be completed by early Spring 2024.
The second, third and fourth floor space programming includes academic classrooms, computer labs, maker spaces, faculty offices, on-air campus radio/television studios and digital media production labs. The first level is dedicated to our Information Technology department. A new data center will be housed on the fourth floor in conjunction with the new campus fiber optic
loop project which is currently wrapping up.

Direction to the College: If traveling north on I-75, take exit 76 and turn right to proceed east on KY-21. Proceed approximately one mile until you reach campus. If traveling south on I-5, take exit 77 and turn left to proceed southeastward on KY-595. At the second traffic light turn right on Walnut Meadow Pike (KY-595) and continue past the Kentucky Artisan Center for approximately two miles until you reach campus. Participants will park at East Visitor lot. Lot GPS coordinate is 37°34'31.2"N 84°17'25.8"W. From the parking lot, participant will come to Facilities Management Break Room for short presentation by Rich Dodd. After the presentation, we will head to CMIT building site for a project tour.
